Driving Wind Blueberry Farm | Urban U-Pick & Farm Store
One of our favorite activities in the summer is visiting a local subcontract and picking our own fruits and vegetables. Luckily in the Indianapolis area we take many options for picking our own produce, a favorite is u-option strawberry farms, just if you like berries, Driving Wind Berry Farm is the place to be!
Driving Wind Drupe Farm is located at 64th and Michigan Road, and if y'all're not looking for it, you may miss information technology, just I assure yous that it'due south a must-do in midsummer! Driving Air current typically opens for u-pick strawberries for a lilliputian over a month at the offset of June and and so the blueberries and blackberries are gear up for picking starting in early July.
Upon arriving at the farm we were met by Josh Welch, Indianapolis native, now based out of Russiaville, who owns and operates Driving Current of air. He pointed out one of his children working in the pocket-sized subcontract store (this is a whole family unit endeavor!), and we headed toward the netted blueberry plants. The green netting protects the farm'southward v dissimilar blueberry types from hungry birds and ducking under it made my children feel they were stepping into a fruit picking adventure.
Driving Current of air isn't a large subcontract, but the berry picking was plentiful, and if you ask my boys they'd tell you that "even the green ones" are delicious!
Information technology'southward all-time to selection in the morning to be sure they aren't over picked. And so, bring a picnic brunch and swallow on the deck overlooking the farm on top of the farm shop. It's complete with several picnic tables and a groovy view. Later picking, and a snack, check out the farm store for local produce, local ice cream, an adorable t-shirt, or some awesome local (of course!) honey. Be sure to cease by and run into the chickens and, our favorite, the very vocal donkey, on site, besides.
